Why would nintendo run and hide though? so they can do their own thing? are they scared to compete? Dont they want to try and get some of the same "core" gamers that the playstation and xbox crowd is aiming for? I just dont get it. Its not the sort of move you make, if you have confidence in your own product.
E3 has like 30-40m people streaming, and has it broadcasted on TV channels. The media shows up big, the journalists are all there, and they write articles to sites, that millions more view. They should have NX at E3. |
Its not about fear of competition, its simply acknowelegding that there is no need for it. The reality is a solo event will garner ALL the relevant press and secure headlines for far longer. There was certainly no lack of attention when sony revealed the PS4 in february 2013.
If Nintendo Revealed the NX and the next day (or even the same evening) sony show off the PS4.5 and show off God of War 4, Final Fantasy VII etc, its obviously going to draw some attention away from them regardless of how good their showing is.
As a gamer its fun for everything to happen all at once during E3 and its cheaper then hosting your own event and its certainly a great platform for getting people to pay attention to games and announcements they would otherwise overlook, and but a console reveal is not one of those things that can easily be overlooked. The only bad side apart from the added cost to Nintendo, is that they're going to look irrelevant during that week but I guess they already have been for the last few years.
