April

- Kirby failed me! I was expecting it to be the best selling game of the month but it came short, Kirby debuted lower than anticipated and Yokai Sangokushi performed much better.

- Konami's baseballl game did really well, One Piece and Star Fox did really poorly, just fine for everything else. Splatoon and Mario Maker return after a two month hiatus.

- PS4's streak continues and it should continue as such for the forseeable future, 3DS and Vita managed to do decent months, and given what happened at Nintendo's investors meetings there's no point of discussing about the Wii U anymore, so as to not hurt anyone's Console Warrior Pride™ we will not mention it again.

- Software sales are still not doing so hot, while the PS4 is having a tremendous increase YoY (with the Vita having a respectable as well) it's not enough to make up for the loss of PS3's and to a lesser stent 3DS' software sales. Though with it's line up the 3DS should bounce back by the end of July.

What to expect next month?

There are two notable releases in May, Uncharted 4 on May 10th and Dragon Quest Heroes II on the 27th. On somewhat lesser games it'll be a good idea to keep an eye on Overwatch and My Hero Academia, I wouldn't expect nothing big from DOOM.

Uncharted 4 should sell on par with it's predecesors, so around 150k for the whole month is realistic, that should also be DQH2 sales for the first week (which is the only one that will account for the month), expect a big drop from the original DQH though, Omega Force just doesn't miss with that, also the first game isn't very good so don't expect for people to come flying for the sequel.

I'm betting on the popularity of the manga for Hero Academia, though I don't have high hopes for it, word of mouth might keep the game running for a long time, if it's good that is.

PS4 is getting two big games so it should stay on top, not much else to say regarding hardware.
