I used Wings3D, a 3 MB downloadable largely because its free. Lacks any real power though.
Your pieces are very nice, you seem to have got texturing down to a fine art - its always been one of the areas I struggle. In particular I love the church - you did a very nice job on that.
Your stuff is particularly good for such small poly counts, I dont have to worry about polys in my stuff because its straight up images.
