Wouldn't that be like WTF Nintendo. Like they literally skip an event and was like here you go a month later.

There are advantages to showing your new product at your own event.  Nintendo controls who gets press passes, so they can have a smaller audience, and ensure that the outlets have more time play the games.  They get to play through the demos several times till they get good at them and enjoy them more, and they are generally more cheerful after not having waited 3-4 hours in line

I was actually able to go to a Wii U event when it was getting ready to launch.  Got to try out everything multiple times, and it was a very laid back and chill environment.  I came out really high on the Wii U.  I've never been to E3, but I'm not sure I would have been as enthusiastic with lots of other stuff to divide my attention and limited opportunity for hands on.

Of course, there are also disadventages as well.

BTW, with some very basic HTML I can make an email say whatever I want.  Not necessarily saying it's fake, but it's not impossible.
