Nintendo need a OS,  need a unified plateform of Development... It's a fact. 

 it's the only way for staying on hardware business... Create OS,  working on ARM,  x86,  including vulkan API...  Be ready for futur... 

Nintendo have résiste Sony, Microsoft Last ten year with 5000 people...  I not sure they have problems to going front Apple or Google... The important is the concept,  remember Wii 100 millions with wiisport... 

I Agree with the other comment who stated that Adult people would not use Nintendo's OS, Iphone sell a lot because of Status and the same people who purchase it for Status would not purchase Nintendo OS because would seem childish to have a Gaming OS as main OS.

But i disagree with the part  he states that Nintendo cannot make a OS, Steam have 200 Employees and yet made Steam OS.

We don't know what people looking for,  a lot of people use smartphone juste for calling...  A lot of children playing on the iphone or Android système of their parents...  Smartphone have remplace à lot of 3DS in homes... 

The war HC / smartphone is already loose. Nintendo can't make like smartphones don't here.  

How much dollars are Win by Apple and Android with the sells of games on appstore and playstore ?

Nintendo OS is based on Linux like Android,  i think it's easy for Nintendo make a OS very Android frienly... 

After they juste need Facebook, Twitter, instagram and important apps come on e-shop...  

 

Nintendo have a lot to win with making HC / smartphone with propriatary OS...  

If NX is a smartphone, it not remplace 3DS or wiiu,  and if this smartphone is working with a second part who's stay at home, it's a new brand concept...
