I remember being pissed that the monster didn't get killed. I was about 11 or 12 at the time so I didn't understand the horror genre, I just wanted the monster to die.

Yeah an immortal bad guy is kind of a foreign concept to a kid, probaly a few more years before you understand it simply cannot be killed and if it wants you, it's gonna get ya.
