MKDS launched at the end of 05. 6 weeks in the year only. It sold 2.4M during those weeks. During the next year (2006) 3.8M and ended at 6.22M. During the next year it sold 3M and ended at 9.3M. This year, it has already sold 1.3M and is at 10.6M.
Over the same 20 weeks that it has sold 1.3M this year, it sold about 1M last year. The reason for this is that people bought MKWii and MKDS, and therefore it has a boost. This boost is going to keep going for some time, giving it a fair boost. I expect MKDS to sell around 3.5M in 2008, totalling 12.8M by 1.1.2009.
Whether or not it now is able to sell 2.2M in 2009, depends on whether there comes a new handheld from Nintendo, but I see no reason for anything but a new model, so I think it should make it fairly easy, perhaps ending its life at close to 16M.
MBT launched at the beginning of 07 in and Japan, 7 months later in Europe and 1 month after that again in the states.
First year Japan it sold fantasticly 3.7M! Second year it only sold 1.2M, so don't expect sales to be huge this year in Japan. Sales could be as low as 500K
In Europe, it sold 900K in the 15 weeks before christmas times, and 2 million around then! In the next 20 weeks it sold 800K more, so we can expect 800 more K before christmas, and maybe a million around christmas, but let's say 700K to be on the secure side.
In America, it sold 500K before christmas, 1M during it, and 600K after. We should see 400K more, and then perhaps 500K during Christmas, but let's say 400K.
That makes 1.5M Europe, 800K America, and 500K Japan. Total will be around 3M, leaving it at 14.11M. It has a change at 15M before 09, but not a big one. It should easily make 15M later though.
