Well why has rise of the tomb raider gotten a 86 then? it wasnt liniar, and no liniar game with zero back tracking deserves such a high score like 94 to be honest. Its unfair to all the other games who give a huge effort designing their maps etc. |
This makes absolutely no sense as the game design and execution are what makes a game great. back tracking has zero to do with a game being great. So every game with back tracking is great? back tracking can lead to repetitiveness and loss of excitement (see The Witcher 3). Back tracking also does not mean more effort was put in and is actually the opposite cause it shows laziness and a lack of creativitiy by not giving the player new scenery. If all of the mechanics in a game are sound it it has no major glitches than it can be a great game even if linear. Uncharted fits the build, but Uncharted 4 is not even linear so your argument is null.
