The plan is to unify their handheld and home consoles, so they play the same games.
Look at the 3DS, it has all the games the Wii U lacks.
That is what the NX will fix.
By only haveing to do 1 game, that runs on both systems, nintendo can sell more nintendo software, to a bigger userbase,
without leaveing one console dealing with game droughts.
