If a victim doesn't leave after the first physical assault happens, it's usually very hard to break through the vicious circle of abuse and self blame that victims typically go through. It can take years to fully recover from shit like that, if you do get out. |
Yeah, pretty much this. Some are also damn scared to leave their asshole partner since they fear what he will do to them or relatives. There is a reason why we have so many women's shelters, it's a place where they can feel at least a little bit safe but if such a woman is scared about what this asshole could do to their parents, siblings or even kids they may just stay with him and take all the pain alone to protect the rest of the family.
