On top of my head I can think of Ogre/Tactics Ogre, Advance Wars, The Banner Saga, Valkyria Chronicles and Disgaea as successful SPRGs (though not sure if Ogre and Disgaea broke a million units sold).

You literally just listed off a bunch of niche games.
