Nintendo doesn't want a high price, but also wants they're new screen controller, so they're going to be sacrificing power. The specs will look OK next to the PS4, but not quite so hot next to the Neo. Personally, I believe them with the games reasoning. They probably only recently got dev kits into 3rd parties' hands, so it'll be awhile before they are approaching anything presentable. Nintendo itself has struggled to pump out games at a constant pace, citing difficulty with developing HD games, so they may be struggling with using this much power. Trying to figure the best way to put it all to use and testing how far they can push it. Not sure if Nintendo has a dedicated team, like Sony's ICE, whose sole purpose is to play around with the HW, pushing it's limits. |
Using New tech doesn't mean using the most high spec stuff available. My guess is Nintendo will use the bottom of the range Zen CPU (most likely a quad core) paired with the bottom of the range Polaris descrete GPU (470/x)
Which would make it cheap.
