Link: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/02/rumour_ea_and_nintendo_looking_to_rekindle_unprecedented_partnership_on_nx Let's assume the meeting did happen. Could this be why the NX is releasing on March 2017? Nintendo President Kimishima said NX is releasing next March to get more software titles ready. What if this also meant titles from third parties like EA? What do you guys think? Does this old rumor have any connection to NX releasing globally on March 2017? |
I doubt it. After getting burned by 3rd parties (specifically western 3rd parties) with the Wii U, Nintendo is probably depending entirely on themselves and a few select Japanese 3rd parties to do the heavy lifting in the NX's first year with western 3rd parties playing a supporting role with low-effort ports. I doubt western 3rd parties will commit fully to the NX until Nintendo establishes the console as a platform with staying power.
That being said, I wonder if the NX reveal is going to be a multi-day thing. Like on the first day, you have the console reveal and subsequent launch games lineup and a day or two afterwards dedicated to live-demos of those games and the NX's features.
