There's even less competetion on the handheld side though

I get it if there just aren't enough games that appeal to you to justify your purchase, but I don't really understand why "no competetion" (which there is, it's just not as close as last gen) in and of itself is a reason to not buy a console this gen.

I've always seen handhelds the same way I have for years, that is to say I can go with one for the travels, not one that I play on a constant basis, all my handhelds have never been played more than the consoles/PC's I've had.

COnsidering the other two have shot themselves in the foot a few times along with sporting weaker hardware and the gen in general not being a bigger leap, I just don't see there personally being much there for me to invest in, especially with there being no clear neck and neck form of competition, I actually liked that form last gen rather than what we're seeing now as a clear an absolute winner, one who will always win start to finish while the other lot won't get anywhere until the start of next gen and even then it's not looking as hopeful.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
