Please note, this is my prediction of what NX will be. Nonetheless, I will explain WHY i think this is at least plausible.

This is not a leak or anything, just a prediction based on what we know so far.

NX:

NX will be released as different 2 consoles that work like Playstation Vita and Vita TV.

Both will have the same / almost the same Hardware. Both will run exactly the same Games.

A modern ARM Chip will be used that will be similar to modern smartphone chips. The home console chips might be clocked higher to allow 1080p on TV; handheld might use 720p screen.

The performance will be similar to the performance of the wii u. Could be a little bit more or less powerfull.

Price: Less then 200€.

Explanations:

Nintendo wont go in direct competition with Ps4 / Xbox One. In mid cycle, that just doesnt work. The N64 was released alot later then the Ps1 and didnt had a chance as well.

With modern online gaming, people are not getting only the "best" system, but the system their friends own (so they can play Call of Duty, GTA, The Division) together. With 60 Mio Ps4´s in the market in march 2017, chances are really bad that many people will get the NX over the Ps4. They wouldnt be able to play Call of Duty with their PS4 buddies, even if COD gets released on NX. The Wii U already prooved that people dont get 2 systems per gen anyway. So third party support is very unlikely.

Also: Nintendo tried third party support on Wii u but it failed. There is NOTHING that stoppes third party right now to release games like Fifa 17 on wii u, but wont happen. GTA 5, Metal Gear Solid 5, Dragon Age Inquisition, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Assassins Creed Rogue, Battlefield 5, Battlefield Hardline.. all that could be released on wii u (console is strong enough). Never happened. They wont try third party again.

Nintendo already talked about merging their handheld and home consoles in the future. There also was the "Fusion" concept. That would fit.

Powerfull Hardware (like Ps4) didnt work in a handheld. Handhelds cant use x86 CPUs right now, scince those need fences and/or are extremly expensive and weak (Intel Core M).

Modern ARM Chips (like Snaprdragin 810, Apple a9x) are about as powerfull as the Wii U and relativly cheap and can be used in a handheld without problems.

When Home console and handhelds are using the same hardware, Nintendo dont need anymore to split their development teams and can develop and release every game for both plattforms without even need to port it (ressources efficiency) (more games output).

Strong hardware (ps4 or better) also need ALOT more ressources for software development. Bigger worlds, more details, better graphics are possible, but that also need to be made. Modern games like Battlefront already proove that they lack alot content because its so damn expensive and ressource intensive to just create a single map.

Its easier to sell a cheap console as a secondary console (like 3ds) as to sell a expensive console (like wii u) as an secondary console.

Nintendo probl have no chances at the moment to make a console that will be successfull as a primary console.

Nintendo games are mostly cartoony and they work fine at a Wii U´s power level.

Example:

Cartoony Games on Ps4:

Cartoony Games on Wii U:
