Well the 1983 Japanese & 1985 North American NES originally came R.O.B. the Robot, a control deck, the NES Zapper, two NES controllers, and three games (Super Mario Brothers, Duck Hunt and Gyromite). After the Atari crash, Nintendo decided to market the NES as a Robot toy that interacted with a game on TV and not as a video game. The included R.O.B. game was "Gyromite". I think R.O. B. came with "Stack Up" in Japan. This was before the NES was $99 though. I think it was closer to $200, but I don't remember that.
R.O.B. is an unlockable character in Mario Kart DS & Super Smash Brother Brawl (the Gyro from the NES is one of his attacks). Super old school fan service.
The creation and marketing of R.O.B. as a "Trojan horse" after the video game market saturation of 1983 was named the fifth in GameSpy's top twenty five smartest moves in gaming history
Later Nintendo released a $99 package that came with console, Super Mario, and 2 NES controllers.
This was eventually replaced with a package of console, 2 NES controllers and an NES Zapper and a 2 in 1 game cartridge of Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt.
