It's not that difficult, to be honest. Yes, nothing can replace Zelda, but they can do better than having nothing, or just Paper Mario.
Make a Mario Sports game, release some new selects and make a cheap new IP, like Captain Toad to go with Paper Mario.
Done. While nothing amazing, it's a decent-ish farewell.
