I think the hardware is the main problem. Probably Nintendo is going with 14 nm by AMD and they just can't deliver enough chips until the holidays as they also have to make chips for all those shiny new PS4Ks. Chances are Sony paid more and gets the chips earlier. But, well, that's just me pulling stuff out of my ass. Anyway, I think we'll never know for sure what exactly happened. No point in speculating about it.

This is why my final prediction was a NA/Eur launch in Nov, with Japan's in spring for home consoles, and the inverse dates for HHs. All they had to do was get enough chips for the region that is more desperate for home consoles (west).

Being pushed back to a global launch, it could mean NX is launching with only one product  instead of two, and I'm not sure its the home console, it could very well be the portable device.
