They should have release it in 2015.
The only excuse for 2016 was the 30th anniversary.

But do you want to know why? Because it doesn't matter how many times they delay and lie in our faces, people will still defend them, regardless of how bad are their decisions. The problem is not Nintendo making bad decisions, but those supporting those mistakes.

Other companys delays games too! don't act like it's only Nintendo!

Name one other company that delayed one of their five biggest running franchises for 1,5-2 years, all the while lying about it, and then revealing it to be cross-platform with their next-gen console after shooting down speculation on that the whole time (they kept insisting it was Wii U only and they promised launch at least on two separate occassions and missed both), ultimately pissing off the majority of their userbase. Not to mention leaving their platform more or less barren for the biggest sales season in what is only its fourth year on the market.

This is a fairly unique situation, and with it being so blatantly obvious, I find it rather in poor taste that they didn't just come out and say it earlier, or at the very least held back on the denial. It's not like Wii U sales could get much worse, regardless of their announcements.

People are upset not because of the delays in themselves, but due to the incredibly awkward and dishonest way it was handled all along. They put themselves in this situation from the release, or even the planning phase of the Wii U though, let's hope it's a wake-up call for them at long last.
