A staggered release wouldn't help the NX at launch, which is their main priority. 1 extra million software sales isn't a biggie for them.
Pushing Zelda as a brand new game with marketing exclusive to the new Console is better as a launch title compared to a late port which has already been released and marketed for the tainted Wii U. Also Zelda has typically been very front loaded, so much of its audience may already consume it by time of NX's launches if it was released this holiday. they'd feel less concerned with actually adopting the new Console around launch window, especially if Zelda is the biggest thing on offer and theyve literally just completed on their Wii U
