But whatever, my name isn't on that list! |
The NX will not release for holiday 2016. So its first holiday will be 2017. And no, it's not "clearly the intention" of holiday 2016. If their intention had been to release it in 2016, they would have announced Zelda NX before now, and they would have gotten dev kits, etc, out earlier.

Yes, the arguments for a 2017 launch generally were closer to reality - they pretty much all said "there's no way that Nintendo will rush it out in 2016, resulting in too few titles available for its first holiday season". The ones saying 2016 were all arguing that Nintendo had to act quickly, and there was no way they'd wait until after the 2016 holiday season. Even you, in your quote below...

Sorry, Wright, but this isn't about me. Here's my post: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=7840203
Good luck spinning that as me being wrong. But I like to argue. And the people who really deserve to eat crow after today's news are those who were saying that the Wii U will have another year of games, that the console won't be replaced before its fifth birthday. |
"that pretty much rules out January to March 2017 as the NX launch period as well." - You were wrong. It didn't even remotely rule out early 2017. Your argument was literally "there is no chance that Nintendo will skip the 2016 holiday season".
I really do love how you accuse others of spinning when your own argument is literally contrary to what Nintendo said and did, while calling out others for saying "it won't be replaced before its fifth birthday", which I don't recall anybody saying. What many said was that there was good reason to wait until about 5 years after Wii U launch.

I was quite clear in saying that the only way that NX would release in 2016 was if it's a handheld version with a console version in late 2017. Based on what has been said now, it seems clear it's not two separate devices, and thus that part of my argument becomes null and void. I suggested that Nintendo *should* wait until late 2017, or even until 2018... but I never asserted that they would wait that long. The one part I was confident in was that they weren't going to have it (barring a handheld version) ready for holiday 2016. All signs, in my view, were pointing at 2017, with the exact timing being a matter of details.
