I understand that much. I have hyrule historia but I really don't trust Nintendo on the whole timeline thing. They'll say one thing and another happens.

I agree on that - honestly, I think they just retconned a bunch of stuff to make it fit into an official timeline. I don't for a minute believe Nintendo developed these games with the timeline in mind.

That said, I'd still be shocked if a game pre-dates Skyward Sword. It shows the founding of Hyrule, the origin of the Master Sword, and the rise of an ancient evil that hints at future villains in the series.
