Even if the PS4.5 dissapoints, the PS4 will be lower in price, allowing people to enter the current gen market without having to wait until March for the NX (or they can get a XBone, which will be lower in price as well), also there is the PSVR which will be a new experience, so exisiting and new people will enter that market as well...what money will they have left to purchase the NX? And where is the good will, otuside the core Nintendo consumer, especially after the dissapointing year(s) that Nintendo has had? |
I never said it was going to be easy.Nintendo has alot to prove, not to mention that it is in a horrible position.I agree with you that it will be hard to compete with the PS4 and the XOne(though it it will be a generation forward, but thats beyond the point), but since we know nothing about it outside the release date, we cant be certain about its success or failure.Sure, it already started bad, with the release date(and analyzing that alone) being worse than a holiday one for example. But Nintendo may more than make up for that, with an strategy that we do not yet know.
And PSVR wont bite any sales on NX.Wont be significant at least.PSVR is too expensive and an unproven tecnology(not to mention is actually an acessory), and unless Nintendo go PS3 with a 600 dollars console, it wont matter. The real problem will be trying to compete with the PS4 and XOne.NX needs to be revolutionary, or at the very least an excellent console to win back popularity and new fans.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
