Yeah it's actually $15.3 million (not sure whether it's USD or CAD) with $10.1 million net of refundable tax credits. So the movie was really cheap to make for Rainmaker.

That's how much Rainmaker invested. but as the relevant paragraph states, it was a co-investment, so $15.3M isn't the total cost of production.

"In 2013, the Company entered into an arrangement with Blockade Entertainment LLC (“Blockade”), and CNHK Media China and Beijing Ruiqixingqiu Movie and Culture Limited (collectively “CNHK”) to co-invest and co-produce the film Ratchet & Clank. Under the terms of the arrangement, the Company agreed to invest in the development and production of the film. This investment entitles Rainmaker to a majority interest in the film, subject to future potential negotiations of participation from additional parties. In order to facilitate enhancements and final deliverables of the film, the Company increased its investment in the film. The Company had invested $15.3 million ($10.1 million net of refundable tax credits) by June 30, 2015. The production was considered substantially complete at March 31, 2015"

I would think the total budget could come in anywhere from $20-40M. But this was the right approach to budget for a video game adaptation. Try to keep the budget down so as to not demand unreal box office performance in order to achieve a profit. In any case, I think an internal benchmark of $75M worldwide gross would be necessary to consider the movie a reasonable success, and potentially worth a sequel. <$50M would be floppage.

$560K is not a bad start in France. I expect it to run for 3, or maybe 4 weeks. So it's going to be hard to crack $1 million there.
