Some advice, just don't lock on to anything. Seriously, you're going to save yourself a lot of aggravation.
Except for the final boss. Lock on for that.
Also, have the gyro set to off in flying vehicles and on on land vehicles. I know that sounds convoluted, but you know, 'tis Star Fox Zero.
