Still, despite being the land of handhelds, they both sure struggled a bit this gen. 3DS barely a quarter of the DS, and the PSVita.....a tenth of the PSP? Some land of the handheld JApan turned out to be :P

i tried looking it up, PS2 had sold 10 million in Japan as of July 2002 which was 28 months after launch.

Different market altogether.  Although it shows nobody could sell home consoles in Japan as good as Sony,  not even Nintendo.
