Wii U has already passed the Vita. The shipment gap by the end of September 2015 could be reasonably estimated to be only a few hundred thousand units in favor of the Vita, then the Wii U had easily the better holiday quarter.

Just because I am curious.

End of 2015:

US Wii U 5m, Vita 2.5m

Japan Wii U 3m, Vita 4.5m

Spain (June 2015) Wii U>100k, Vita >700k

Gap: Wii U <400k

Q1 2016:

Japan Wii U 110k, Vita 296k

US Wii U 175k, Vita ~44k

Gap: Vita by 55k

In 3 countries Wii U only leads by <345k. I think Vita sales in Spain for rest of year and Portugal and many other rest of world sales are much much higher then Wii U.

For example 1: Wii U has not launched in China but Vita has.

Example 2: Vita launched in Brazil march 2012, Wii U launched Nov 2013 (1 year after launch, 1 year 9 months after Vita) and ended Jan 2015.

Example 3: In fact Nintendo has very little presence in all of Latin America, including the large market of Mexico.

I think you would be very hard pressed to say that Wii U has outsold Vita.

End of 2015:

US Wii U >5m, Vita < 2.5m / >2.5m gap

Japan Wii U > 3m, Vita < 4.6m / < 1.6m gap

JP+US = Wii U by >900K

About Spain, last Wii U numbers we have are back in December 2013, which have Wii U at > 80k. No way is only a bit over 100k in 2015, it's most likely over 200k. While Vita was at 600k, not 700k in June.

In France and Germany Wii U sold 1.43 million, i hardly see PSV that high since we know it sold only 60,000 in France in 2015.

As for China, Vita sold some insignificant numbers like 20k in one month according to an estimate... even if we say now is 100k, that's still very poor.
