I wouldn't look too much into the fact that we don't anything about it yet. Pokemon is really notorious about this kind of thing. The always drip-feed this info. I hope you're right, though. Gen 7 is being sent out to die quality-wise on the 3DS's anchient hardware as far as I'm concerned.
