The gender choosing to me is Aonuma looking at Skyrim and thinking "why not?". On the surface, I have no problem with it but I don't like it because I know social progressives will interpret it as getting a foot in and then demanding more from Nintendo like "MAKE LINK A BLACK MEXICAN GAY MUSLIM OTHERKIN TRANSSEXUAL FURRY!" and whinig like petulant children (media progressives included) if they don't get what they want. As for voice acting, oh god, I hope there's dual audio if it's true because NOA tends to cheap out when it comes to voice acting and typically has horrible VA directors handling the sessions, leading to wooden, uninspired performances.
