I'm sure they are going to try and get out the first installment by 2017, in time for the 20th anniversary. With the 2nd part the year after. I also wouldn't be surprised to see the complete game upgraded for the PS5, maybe as a launch title, which I expect to hit shelves in 2019. |
There are plenty of places they could stop before the end of the first disk; at the end of the first continent/on the boat (especially if they're extending Midgar); the temple of the ancients; or Nibelheim.
I suspect the first game will feature the first the first continent with an extended (fully explorable) Midgar section and a more thorough encounter with Sephiroth on the ship.
