My thinking is that its a sensor + projector.
Its a mini version of kinect, that projects a image onto say... a table.
You lay your hands in front of it, and you can interact with what it projects onto the table.
The picture of the steering wheel scares me though... how fun can it be to play a raceing game, with your arms laying flat on a table, ontop of a "picture" projected there?
It could be used for a keyboard though:
