Current PS4K rumours have been received with mixed emotions to say the least. The biggest reason given by many that would not be happy with a PS4K is that they would feel ripped of if they hade to pay another $400 after just three years. However this is not the case:

Scenario without a PS4K: You bought a PS4 for $400, and after six years you sell it for $100. This would have cost you $300 after six years.

Scenario with a PS4K: You bought a PS4 for $400, and after three years you sell it for atleast $200. You then buy a PS4K. This you sell after another three years for atleast $200. This will have cost you $400 after six years.

Total premium for a PS4K: $100. Also note that $200 for PS4 after three years is a very low estimate, you would likely get a bit more(same for the PS4K). So it could be as little as $50 or perhaps even less. Now for that moneyis assume you would atleast get: PS4 games at a higher frame rate/resolution, 4K support/HDR support and probably a 4K Blu-Ray player, a much better PS VR experience(probably any PS4 game at 60 fps) etc. Also if you currently own a 500 gb PS4 you would double your storage capacity.

Looking at it this way it would almost be a rip off from Sony to NOT release an upgraded system.
