They have said before they have a decent profit on each unit sold at current price.
(enough to pay for marketing and smaller budget games atlest)
Also because the screen is something they invented (it didnt exsist on the market before), once they start massively produceing units, scale of economics will kick in, and the unit prices of this unique screen will drop alot.
Im guessing before the year is over, you will see PS VR 50$ cheaper.
