I don't think anyone claimed that Russia doesn't have an agenda or is not pursuing its own national interests.

However,  where I disagree is that what Russia is doing is against western interests, at least when it comes to fighting ISIS and Nusra(Al-Qaeda).

Sure they are supporting Assad but when it comes to dead jihadis it is a win-win scenario.

I can see why you may view Russia as the enemy as a Pole but the situation in Syria is a lot more complicated than for example in the Ukraine.

It's not about seeing Russia as an enemy (which they obviously are). Just as I'm not going to teach you about the Aborigines and their antics, being Polish I understand their policy, mentality and their goals far better than you. I know their propaganda, their ways, things that you simply don't understand are absolutely transparent to me. It goes with being born and raised in this region and being part of this ethnic and cultural group. It's a similar case to knowing your sibling far better than anyone else.

The situation in Syria would have been far better, had Russia not entered it. A dead terrorist here and there won't change that fact.

I thought by trying to find some middle ground you could see the light but evidently you are consumed by your Russophobia.

We can pretend to know what would happen in Syria had the Russians not intervened. However I contend that without Russia's aid, the Syrian government would have collapsed and the Islamic State would fill the vacuum and eventually conquer the rest of Syria. How exactly would that be in the interest of the west? At the very least, Russia's intervention has preserved the central authority. We have seen what happens when governments are unilaterally toppled in the cases of Libya and Iraq. In Iraq's case the overthrow provided a conducive environment for what would become the Islamic state to take root.

As for Europe don't worry about lecturing me as I too was born and raised there. It just so happened that I ended up moving to Australia while I was young. Unfortunately smaller nations will always be the pawns of the great powers. In the case of Poland they have merely switched one master for another which is a shame because it had the potential to be a strong independent state following the collapse of the Warsaw pact.

In any case, the priority for all sides should be the destruction of the Islamic state followed by negotiations towards a political settlement. Hopefully it can happen sooner rather than later.
