PSVR pre-order stock wasn't small then, it's beating even the PS4.

GameStop Had a “Very Strong Allocation” For PlayStation VR Pre-Orders, and Most of it Is Gone

While PlayStation VR’s initial pre-orders basically evaporated on Amazon, the Launch Bundle for Sony’s upcoming virtual reality headset is still available at GameStop. There has been discussion on how many units Sony made available to retailers, and GameStop Chief Operating Officer Tony Bartel provided some clarity on the situation during the company’s latest financial call.

According to Bartel, the retailer had a “very strong allocation” of PlayStation VR units for pre-orders, and they’re “through most of that allocation,” meaning that most of the units initially available to the retailer have found a customer.

Earlier during the presentation, it was mentioned that PlayStation VR represented “most of the disproportionately high allocation” for the first wave of VR sales at the retailer.

Bartel also mentioned that the company is going to be cautious on its forecasts for the platform, as they still have to see how the production cycle will look like and the consumer demand around virtual reality gaming. Yet, he notes that “at some point” it’s predicted to become a multi-billion dollar business as it begins to mature.

Seeing how the PSVR positioned itself above the Ps4 on the Amazon charts, and this statement from a Gamestop representative, we can leave behind the silly argument from some people that the initial stock was "tiny".

There is absolutely no way to deny the success of the initial sales, no matter the desire of some to see fail the VR tech.

In the UK, Game stores were actually printing on the signs how many pre-orders they could have, for example in Dudly they have two stores, one had max of ten orders and the other had about 15, with about 5 and 8 ordered. Might go there tomorrow to see how its doing. Considering you had to lump 100 down to order from a store I was quite impressed with that. But as you can order online without the 100 down, I suspect online orders will be much better.
