As I only follow Nintendo I can only comment on them.
Handheld-wise, this has been the best generation by far. The 3DS is an incredible console, a massive range of classics with BC allowing it access to the hundreds already available on the DS. eShop and VC have also been much better on 3DS. I've put in thousands of hours on the console and that's when I was sure I'd eventually tire of gaming.
Home Console-wise, yes this has absolutely been the worst gen. There have been good games, but the Wii U doesn't have anywhere near as much as even the Gamecube did. Sold my U a while ago to buy more 3DS games, haven't regretted it once.
