| SamuelRSmith said: It's a shame that a lot of the old guard have left, back in the day it was quite well-known that it was my dream/goal to move to the US. It's taken me a long time and many attempts, and I finally decided to take the Masters route. My girlfriend lives in NYC (well, technically, NJ), so I applied to a handful of schools in the area. I received my first accept a couple hours ago, it was for one of my safer schools. There are a few results I haven't heard back from yet, which I am nervous about. At the end of the day, though, I finally get a real shot at living in the US. It's a shame I have to take this route, though. I'm exceptionally talented at what I do. However, due to America's broken immigration system, no employer would look at me until I had several more years experience under my belt. The structure almost forces young talented people through the University system. One of the reasons why your tuition fees are so high is because you're being outbid by the Chinese and Indian 1% who just want a shot at living in a far better country, and they're willing to work hard and go through hell for it. (I'm not Chinese or Indian, my gf is Chinese though). |
Cool! I vaguely member u wanted to go.
Your gf, did u meet her while she was alrdy living in the US or did she live in the UK?
What was it that you would work with if the Americans would have you? Something with economics, rite?
What do u mean by safe schools?
Where will u live? Like, what kind of neighborshood and what are the costs to rent and stuff?
What's the way of the Chinese and Indians in the system? Can u elaborate a li'l?
