Also, I think this form of interface is both the home console and the portable.  I think the home screen will have a controller that mimics the portable, and the portable will run the same games at lower resolutions.

I can see that tbh, right now I'm picturing a gamepad using all this tech for the console and a N3DS like device employing the same tech for the handheld.

And Nintendo tells square make one version and you get it on two systems.  And Square says ah, yeah, we're gonna bring DX and maybe FF to it.  And Nintendo says, wait, don't say anything yet!
