I believe the new style of analogue will work just fine to control Mario.  I use analogues in NSMBU.  And third parties rejected Wii U because of the system in general.  The statement above is not that third parties will embrace NX, simply that if the do not support it, it won't be because of the controller.

Also, if you can't see that the vertical NX pad without grips is very much like a Wii mote in simplicity, you are blind.
