Pfff, Wii gets more so-called "hardcore" games than GameCube ever did. It's just that there are more 3rd party shovelware games, but that's ALWAYS been the case with the leading consoles... I honestly don't understand why everybody gets so worked up over the Wii's abundance of inferior games, while it still gets loads of quality titles. It was the same for PS2, PS1 before that, and the SNES and NES before THAT. I don't see what's different now..
For crying out loud, we got Zelda as a launch title, and Metroid, Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros and tons of other really good games within a year and a half of launch!
Yes we do get 10 lesser games for every good game that comes out, but that's ALWAYS been the case. It's almost as if those so-called "hardcore gamers" can't stand the fact that their mom, milkman, and girl next door are now playing games too, even if those are bad ones. Who cares, as long as these people are having fun? Who are WE to say they shouldn't play these games because we think they're bad? Aren't these people having fun? They don't like games like Zelda, Final Fantasy, MGS, GTA or Halo. So what? Those kind of games may seem easy to grasp to the likes of us, but to them they're too much of a hassle. Isn't the whole POINT of games to have fun playing them? If these people enjoy a good game of Chicken Shoot, LET THEM! We still get all the totally epic games as well. Nintendo is not forgetting the "hardcore" crowd. It's not a case of "or", it's a case of "and".
And the HD consoles are not experiencing a "downfall" or "3P1C F41LUR3!!1!", it's just that the Wii is selling better, and the market is expanding. Which is a good thing. Thinking otherwise is just egocentric. And saying things like "the Wii is crap, HD consoles should be on top, and 3rd parties should stop making games for casuals" is incredibly childish and ignorant.
