You have to love Sony. Getting all the love for their effort to help Lionhead developers find new homes within their studios without committing to really anything then weeks later go ahead and close one of their studios and still reap public opinion without actually doing anything different.

Man this thread is totally different then the Lionhead closure. I have to give it to Sony Marketing and communications. Those people really understand the gaming community and how to make them eat dog food all the while calling it steak.

It can happen within a span of few hours....till the last day, Lionhead guys didn't know that they were getting shut

Oh there were people at Lionhead that new they were getting shut down, its usually the people that run the business because shutting down a studio doesn't happen in days, it happens in months leading up to the closure.  There really is no difference when it comes to this type of stuff.  No company is above the rest when it comes to having to close a studio.  The fact of the matter is that neither Sony, Nintendo or MS are altruristic, bevenolent companies.  They do not keep running businesses in the Red like some people assumed in other threads.  Instead these are corporations that need to stay in the black and make hard decisions when parts of their business run in the red.

What we see from this closure is that Sony is willing to make the hard decision just like any other business even if it has negative tones but the true strength of Sony is that they can still come out smelling like a rose.
