Not really surprising at all.
It's a brand new app from a major developer in Japan. And these are weekly charts measuring the number of new downloads for that week. Of course a hot new app will take 1st place.
Question is how long can Nintendo manage to stay on the weekly charts and will their existing users continue to use the app in the long term.
Mobile is very fickle, one week an app might have 50+ million downloads the next month all their users have moved on to the next 'thing'. The key aspect in determining app success is longevity.
