The US is pretty nice. Not nearly as bad as the internet may have you believe. Its not too unlike the UK (where you are seemingly from) but naturally it has its fair share of differences. The east coast is more like the UK in terms of culture than the west coast (where I'm at). Personally I prefer the more laid back nature of the west than the more business minded east. But I'm sure you'll like it! But you're in the NY/NJ area, so watch out for bad drivers
