There might not have been bow and arrows, boomerangs and other fancy gadgets, but Link could whip but with all his fancy sword moves. It's funny you confused Link to the Past with Link's Awakening, because Link's Awakening for the Game Boy actually IS the best Zelda ever.
And you can jump in it!!! On command!
I've beaten The Adventure of Link, Link to the Past, and Link's Awakening. Link's Awakening is the superior adventure.
