| ratchet426 said: My Crazy Fanboy Theory There's been a lot of head scratching over the unusually long 2-month gap between the game going Gold and being released. The party line from ND is that they need that extra time to make sure they print enough copies of the game (really?? 2 months?) So put on your tin foil hats folks, 'cause here comes my totally unfounded, not-a-shred-of-evidence fanboy theory to explain the delay. What if ND's big surprise is that with the extra development time, plus Sony's recent unlocking of the 7th APU core, they've managed to squeeze out an unlocked 60fps mode for the single-player campaign? (Stay with me here). BUT, that performance increase also requires some secret sauce under the hood in the form of Firmware 3.5 (which as we know is coming soon). SO....what if this 2-month gap between going gold and release ISN'T really lead time to manufacture enough stock but rather just ND needing to wait for Firmware 3.5? Huh?..Huh?? Ya get me??? Thats a lot of tin foil.....
But one thing that is interesting is the fact that they are gold so early, especially as they have delayed the game two extra weeks. Normally you need 4 weeks to final submit/approval, manufacture and distribute/release. So a may release date is an extremely long time for a game to be gold and to go to release, so something is weird (unless they had problems with the manufacturing, which is unlikely).
So we are still looking at the original April launch date if it went gold today. Suppose they have an extra 4 weeks of polish/day 1 patch.
