| curl-6 said: How can you conclude that NX will be a good mass market product when you don't know what it will be? Frankly, I don't think it matters how good it is. At this point I think consumer interest in Nintendo hardware has been irreparably damaged. A new console from them could convert lead to gold and it'd still struggle to reach 20 million. Wii U was their Saturn and NX will be their Dreamcast. |
Then how can you conclude that NX will be a failure? History? Last time we assumed that, Nintendo went on to sell 250 million units of hardware and billions of software. Lucky or not, there was a market who were interested in the dual touch screen and the motion controls. Plus it didn't hurt to have games that are considered games of their generation (or of all-time).
Unless you've been within the board meetings and hearing from developers directly, you cannot assume or judge what this NX could possibly be and what it could ultimately do for Nintendo. History is a weird thing at times. I mean, look what happened to Vita. All the momentum that the PSP had went down the drain due to multiple factors, not just lack of consumer interest. Some analysts thought 3DS, especially after its slow start, would crumble once the VIta released. And as I said before, the 3DS has almost 60 million people as an install base. Not great compared to DS, but commendable considering the new elements that have affected handhelds such as mobile.
I have heard many rumors and news about patents and I still don't have the full big picture of what this console is going to be.
