Also, Square Enix already expressed their wish to port the game. Thing is that right now they are busy revving up for FFXV, so odds are right now they are leaving that for latter, when they are done with Nocto... 

Square Enix support was inevitably coming, especially given SE's eventual focus on the west. But the kind of support MS was looking for was to help expand their fanbase outside of the typical western games.

Hence, MS invested in gettin some of that audience, period. That's just business.

Square Enix had a policy of only doing it if cross play was allowed. The policy was called of when MS offered compensation for it. They received special treatment and when special treatment was obtained by paying someone, the only word to describe it is bribe.
