This is the least of Nintendo's problems. Sega made great software too.
I am NOT dissing what you said, it is just that finding a bigger audience for that "great software" should be a priority, not just making it. This "great software" is not attracting enough people, it mainly only attract Nintendo fans. This is not growth.
I understand as a gamer this isn't your problem but as a fan of Nintendo I would like them to do better business as well.
Wii U saw some of the best work Nintendo has done for poor (or poorer) rewards. Imagine sales of Splatoon on a bigger userbase. It did great on 12m users but 12m users is ... well.
VR is not a big deal, until it happens we won't know. It can flop, it may not. The console is the big deal. Get the consoles RIGHT and anything can follow.
