We'll likely not see a new casing. The disc drive and controller/memory card inputs relegate it to basically the dimensions we have today.
The motherboard, which Lightbleeder may have alluded to, can be condensed greatly. I've seen the mobo and there is plenty of pasture on it (empty space).
They can make it lighter, more energy efficient, cheaper, cooler, etc...with revisions.
I expect them to come about once new colors become a real possibility. It would make sense to introduce both at the same time.
