Between 1993 and 1999 (six years) we went from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 to fucking Sonic Adventure. Since 2010 (also six years) we've gone from Mass Effect 2 to Halo 5... that's it.
And that's the problem for me since I was an 80's kid. I grew up watching gaming's most exciting and innovate era. I saw things jump by leaps and bounds every few years. Things have just slowed down to a drip these days and it's made the whole scene (sans Nintendo) seem tired.
